Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)



RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • In your role as Senior Data Engineer you design, build and launch reliable data pipelines in addition to optimizing and maintaining existing data pipelines.
  • Designing data models for optimal storage and retrieval as well as developing and implementing high-performance data storage and management solutions, including data lakes, data warehouses, and distributed data systems are part of your tasks.
  • Furthermore, you ensure the integrity, security and reliability of the data infrastructure and deploy inclusive data quality checks to ensure high quality of data.
  • You build and maintain data integrations with external systems and partners.
  • Additionally, you are responsible for leading data engineering related projects and ensuring reliable data architectures as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data needs and opportunities.
  • Last but not least, you provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field along with at least 5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field, including significant project management experience
  • strong programming skills - including Python, Java and SQL - and practical experience with cloud development, preferably AWS
  • profound knowledge in the field of data storage technologies such as relational databases and NoSQL databases as well as data integration and ETL processes using workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS StepFunctions
  • experience with distributed data systems such as Hadoop, as well as event-driven data pipelines and competent handling of massive, multi-dimensional spatio-temporal data sets and storage solutions are a plus
  • strong problem-solving and communication skills in English
